What is the Happy Nappy Duo™?

Splash About is proud to be at the forefront of baby swimming product development, constantly exploring ways to enhance your baby’s swimming experiences.

That’s why we’ve further improved the tried-and-tested Happy Nappy™ and created the Happy Nappy Duo™, the first reusable swimming nappy to use the natural antibacterial properties of silver to kill germs from faeces before they can escape the nappy.

Not only that, but the Happy Nappy Duo™ is approved as a double nappy system, which is required by many Australian swim schools, making it the only swimming nappy you need.

What are the benefits of silver in the Happy Nappy Duo™?

For centuries, silver has been recognised for its ability to kill bacteria. It has been used to clean wounds and to keep drinking water safe on board ships.

Hospitals use silver-infused bandages to treat burns, and it is also known to soothe sore skin conditions. This is why we can confidently state that the Happy Nappy Duo™ can help soothe babies' bottoms if they suffer from nappy rash, eczema, or other skin issues.

The silver layer has been rigorously tested by virologists* specifically for Splash About, proving that this antibacterial silver layer effectively kills germs from faeces that can lead to unpleasant tummy bugs such as gastroenteritis or E. coli.**

By using a Happy Nappy Duo™, you can be assured that you are protecting your baby and other swimmers from germs if your baby soils their nappy during a swimming session.

Happy Nappy Duo™ vs Happy Nappy™

The Happy Nappy™ remains just as effective today as it was before the introduction of the Happy Nappy Duo™. However, the Duo offers a few additional benefits:

Should anything be worn under the nappy?

No. The Happy Nappy Duo™ is a double nappy system and requires no other nappy underneath

No. The Happy Nappy™ works without any other under nappy, however, many swim schools insist on a double nappy system so a disposable nappy or reusable nappy wrap may need to be worn in these circumstances

Does it kill germs?

Yes. The silver in the Happy Nappy Duo™ has been scientifically proven to kill germs from faeces whilst in the nappy

No. The Happy Nappy™ will keep solids inside but will not kill the germs.

Is the nappy made from neoprene?

Yes. The outer nappy is neoprene, the inner is made from a silver coated polyester

Yes

Great for you, even better for the environment

The Happy Nappy Duo™ replaces the need for disposable swim nappies that can take up to 450 years* to break down in landfill, so in buying one, you are helping to keep the number of nappies in landfill down. Here at Splash About, we are committed to helping the environment, which is why every Happy Nappy Duo™ is made using recycled plastic waste materials.

In Summary

What is the Happy Nappy Duo™?

The Happy Nappy Duo™ is the first ever reusable swim nappy with a silver lining. It has been in development for over four years with a leading virologist and has been proven to kill bacteria from faeces, whilst remaining incredibly gentle of babies skin.

Not only that, but the inbuilt silver
lining means that this is approved by Australian swim schools as a double nappy, so there is no need for any other nappy to be worn underneath.

How does the Happy Nappy Duo™ protect against leaks?

The Happy Nappy Duo™ is a neoprene nappy that is designed to fit snugly, without gaping, so all solids remain in the nappy. Snug seals around the waist and thighs prevent faeces leaking out. The Happy Nappy Duo™ is completely secure as there are no poppers or fastenings to compromise the leak protection.
It should be noted however, that as with any swim nappy, the Duo will not hold in urine and babies should wear regular nappies on the journey to and from the pool.

How do I chose the right size?

Whilst the Happy Nappy Duo is designed to fit snugly around the thighs and waist, it should not be uncomfortable to wear. We would always recommend using our size guide to get the correct fitting nappy. Ages are only given as a guide, the measurements should be the main factor when chosing a Duo. It is best for the baby to be measured whilst laying flat and not immediately after a feed. You should measure all around their tummy, across the belly button, and at the fullest part of their thigh.

When worn, you should be able to get a finger comfortably around the edges of the seal and there should be no red marks.

What is the difference between the Happy Nappy Duo™ and the Happy Nappy™?

Both the Happy Nappy™ and the Happy Nappy Duo™ work in the same way to protect against leaks into the pool. The Happy Nappy Duo™ has the added benefit of an inbuilt under nappy that helps to keep solids inside. Your swim school may require a double nappy system.

The Happy Nappy Duo™ is a double nappy so no further nappy is needed, whereas if that is stipulated by the swim school, you will need to buy an under nappy or disposable to wear with the Happy Nappy™.

The Happy Nappy Duo™ has the silver lining technology, the Happy Nappy™ does not.

Both are reliable against leaks into
the pool and both fit in the same way, allowing your child to kick and
splash comfortably in the pool.

Both nappies should be hand washed to maintain the neoprene and ribbing.

Do I need to wear something underneath the Happy Nappy Duo™?

No, there is no need to wear anything underneath the Happy Nappy Duo™. The inbuilt silver lining means the Happy Nappy Duo™ classes as the double layer nappy system required by most swimming lesson providers.

How do I wash the Happy Nappy Duo™?

To keep our products in good condition, we recommend hand washing in cool water and air drying away from direct sunlight, unless the care label specifies otherwise. However, we understand that soiled nappies may sometimes need machine washing. In these instances, wash at 30°C using a non-biological detergent. Please note that frequent machine washing may reduce the product's lifespan.

In her conclusion she wrote "The Silver lining fabrics have been tested and redeveloped over a 2-year period. The final product is highly antibacterial in a pool water solution and Imaging at CytoViva shows Cryptosporidium Oocysts cell walls as flattened and shrivelled, when interacting with the silver from the fabric"
